EUROPEANS.

Lcavo at the expiration of five years' service.

I. Any Europoan lember of the Police Foroo may, after each period of five years' service, on claiming his return passage, under para. 16 of Ordinance II of 1900, apply through tho Captain Superintendent of Police to His Exocl the Governor for pormission to return to the service within a period not oxocoding nine months.

2. Should this application bo approvod, the applicant will receive half during his absonco, and a certificate entitling him to a return passage to Colony within the period specified: subject to his passing a satisfactory Medical examination' about' three months before the expiration of his leave as to his fitnoas to return to a tropical climate.

3. The applicant shall enter into a bond for the refund of the half pay, the difference between his pension and half pay as the oaao may be, drawn af his leaving the Colony, in case he does not return at the period specified. 4..The period may nevertheless be extended by the Sooretary of State for the Colonics,,on such ground as may to him be satisfactory, and such extensi shall be doomed to be leave originally granted within the meaning of the abu Sections I, 2, and 3, anything therein contained to the contrary notwithstan.. 5. Such leave shall enable the applicant to count his prebious service.a regard the time of service acquired bofore a pension is granted, and each porİ of two months on leave shall count as one month's service towards the comput of a pension.

6. On the Applicant's return to the Colony, he shall be reinstated in his relative position in the Force, and he will be sworn in for a further period of five years' service under paras. 8 and 13 of Ordinance II of 1900.

7. If at the expiration of five years' service leave is refused on the ground that the Applicant's service cannot then be spared, he shall be allow leave at the carliest suitable date, and the time elapsing between the expiration of the above mentioned five ycare service and the date of his goi on leave, shall be calgulated towards the period of five years' service to be served by him on his return from such lcave. If the time of year at which a period of five years' scrvice expires is on consideration of health unsuitabl for leave to be taken, the Applicant may, by permission, go on leave at any + within six months from such expiration of servico, and this interval shall oJunt towards his next period of five years' service.

8. The period of time spent on leave will not count towards the calculatio of time constituting any term of five years' service for bonus or passage.

Note: Under Section 2 he is entitled to a roturn passago, 2nd class, per Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company'a j'ail Steamer at the cost of the Colony, subject to his passing a satisfactory "edical Examination about 3 months before the expiration of his leave as to his fitnt · to return to a tropical climate. He is also entitled to 2nd class return passage as above for his wife and children, not exceeding four persons beside himself.
